Site Statistics February
We have been asked by some of our advertisers about the site and how many "hits" we get and about web traffic analysis. We have included some statistics covering February for newquayguide.co.uk and explain the relevance.
Frankly, "hits" are pretty meaningless, we had 1,095,313 hits during February, although this sounds impressive as a measure of business effectiveness it is a complete irrelevance. Using "hits" alone to promote the effectiveness of a web site is the equivalent of selling snake oil! Why? Very simply "hits" count files served up. A single Web page can account for a dozen or more hits if it has a lot of photos, while a text-only page may generate just a single hit.
The type of statistic that does matter is that e.g. during February on 11,504 occasions someone who was visiting our site clicked through to look at one of our advertisers web sites.
Stats Report for period: Thursday, 01 Feb 2007 - Wednesday, 28 Feb 2007

advertisers own sites.
- 245 new subscribers to our email newsletter.
- Site visitors requested providers details by email on 3,839 occassions

The number of visitors we deliver to our advertisers web sites, new subscribers to our email newsletter and the number of occassions a visitor requests an email delivery of an advertisers details are the most relevant figures.
It does not matter how many visitors we get if none of them look at your web sites, email you, telephone you, ask for your details in their In-Box or take some action to indicate a real interest in what we are promoting!
Actual hits for February are 1,095,313 with average hits per day being 34,228 and average hits per visitor being 27.47.
Feedback and questions have made it clear that some advertisers are absolutely on top of their own statistics yet others are not looking or even checking their own web logs.
Your ISP will provide you with the statistics, or the the actual logs. Plenty of log analysers on the net. You MUST check your logs to make the most effective use of your web site.
If your ISP can not provide you with either the stats or the logs then change your ISP!
