Newquay Harbour is close to the town centre. Boats run from the harbour to take visitors out fishing, seal watching, scuba diving or just for trip. The Harbour hosts the annual Fish Festival and is home to a colony of seals that are always a popular sight with visitors.

The roots of the Mount Charles Band can be traced back to 1779 when it was known as the regiment of Cornish Volunteers. Following several name changes it moved from Charles town to Mount Charles in 1945 and became known as the Mount Charles Band.

 The Newquay County Gig Championships are held each year at the end of the rowing season. . Clubs and crews from around Cornwall  all come to compete in  Newquay Harbour for the County Championshps. 

There are claesses for all ages, male and female and the Champinships are a great spectacle.

Newquay's Atlantic 85 lifeboats launched at 08:30 hrs on Friday 2nd July 2010 to assist a broken down fishing vessel 4.5 miles off Towan head.
